New

In cooperation with our customers, we keep enhancing our product. We’ve continued the development of the following functionalities.

Website archiving

In today’s fast-changing digital landscape, websites may disappear. Preserving their content remains valuable. With this release, you can now archive websites and access them directly in the browser via MediaHaven. Both .warc and .wacz file formats are supported.

AI features launch

We’re excited to announce the official launch of our AI-powered features! These features include semantic search, similarity search, full text search (OCR) and automatic metadata tagging. Designed with ease of use in mind, these features are now fully available and ready to enhance your experience. Do you rely heavily on semantic search? You can now easily enable it via the AI toggle next to the search bar for faster and smarter results.

Want to enrich older objects with AI? With our new AI metadata harvesting option, you can now apply automatic metadata tagging to objects uploaded before AI functionalities were introduced. This feature is available on request.

These AI-features are only available for organisations subscribed to the AI-package. Interested? Contact our team and they’ll show you the ins and outs of MediaHavens AI functionalities. Discover our AI-features on our website.

Improved evaluation tasks

The submitter is now visible in evaluation tasks. The task displays the user who submitted the item for evaluation, providing better context and traceability. Additionally, it’s also possible to filter the tasks on a specific submitter in the task overview.

Custom reporting

MediaHaven already offers a variety of default reports, including login activity, top uploaders, and most popular downloads. Starting with this release, you can now configure custom reports tailored to your organization’s needs. This feature is available as a product add-on. To learn more, contact our team at support@zeticon.com — we’ll be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.

Improvements

As with every release, we have made some improvements based on feedback from our end users.

uX & accessability

  • The navigation bar has been redesigned to offer a more intuitive user experience. “My Selection” and “Downloads” are now accessible via the User Profile menu.

  • Improved keyboard navigation on edit pages: Users can now navigate edit pages using the keyboard. For example, dropdown menus are accessible via arrow keys, and pressing ‘Enter’ can be used to fill in metadata fields.

  • Object statuses are now visually colour-coded, allowing users to quickly identify failed or invalid objects at a glance. You can find more information about the colour statuses in the MediaHaven manual.

  • Thesaurus suggestions are now available on both the edit and read-only pages. This provides users with a clearer overview of an object’s metadata and helps prevent duplicate thesaurus suggestions, reducing unnecessary evaluation work.

  • If your organisation uses the blue information banner permanently, you can now choose to close it when the information is no longer needed. This helps to reduce visual clutter.

mp3 viewer

We’ve added mp3 viewer support, making it possible to open mp3 files directly in the browser.

searching & sorting

  • Performed a search but didn’t find what you were looking for? Now, you can simply click on the search term in the search bar to quickly edit and refine your search.

  • Users can now access all saved searches from the ‘Use Saved Search’ action on the All Objects list. The dropdown no longer limits the number of saved searches shown, making it easier to quickly switch between different search configurations.

  • You can now sort on EDTF (Extended Date/Time Format) fields. This makes it easier to view and manage items in chronological order, even when exact dates are unknown. For more details, please contact our support team.

Technical features and improvements

Improved performance

Uploading a large number of items or SIPs with diverse metadata? MediaHaven now handles it better than ever.

This release is all about performance. We've made key improvements in two critical areas:

  • Faster Indexation: Objects are indexed more quickly, making them available in MediaHaven sooner.

  • Faster Ingest: Upload and processing speeds have been significantly enhanced, especially for SIP uploads.

These upgrades allow MediaHaven to handle more processes simultaneously, improving speed and scalability.

Ingest

  • XML sidecar validation: Using an XML sidecar for uploads? You can now validate it against the classification XSD. This ensures your metadata is correctly structured.

  • Improved ingest for AI package users: We've updated the ingest process for organizations using the AI package. OCR, embeddings, and automatic metadata tagging are now performed as the final processing steps.

This change allows users to start editing objects even while AI harvesting is still running.

  • Faster PDF transcoding: PDF transcoding is now at least 10 times faster!

Facets

We’ve reworked the facets endpoint. Discover everything about the Facet v3 on this page and in the API documentation. No worries, the older facet endpoints are still fully supported. However, we recommend switching to v3 for a simpler and more streamlined experience.
