New features
In cooperation with our customers, we keep enhancing our product. We’ve continued the development of the following functionalities.
New report: Top downloaders
We have added the new "Top downloaders" report for all our customers. This report shows which users download the most objects.
A cleaner editing view for restricted users
We’ve introduced a new setting that lets you hide fields that a restricted user may not modify while editing. If there is a certain role in your MediaHaven organisation that is only allowed to edit certain metadata profiles, it can be useful to not show these while editing objects. Of course, users still see these fields and their metadata when consulting the detail page in read-only mode. This avoids confusing users with read-only fields during data entry.
Users with limited edit rights now only see the metadata fields they are actually allowed to edit, keeping the editing process as simple as possible. Please note that this is a setting that needs to be activated. This will not be immediately available after the upgrade. Contact our support team if you are interested in this feature.
Add relations in bulk
From this release on, we’ve made some adjustments to link multiple items at once: pick a relation type, and search for the items you want to link via autocomplete. Tick the checkbox next to each item to select several items in one go, then save.
This is especially handy when, for example, a consent form (GDPR) needs to be linked to all the images it applies to. Where this previously had to be done image by image, it can now be handled in a single action.
Improvements
As with every release, we have made some improvements based on feedback from our end users.
ERROR HANDLING
Users now get clearer feedback and a specific error message when a transformation fails and no consultation representation can be generated. This can happen, for example, when the file format is not supported, the file format is corrupted, or the max file size limit is exceeded.
FRAGMENTS
The "Hierarchy" tab has been renamed to "Fragments" and now only appears for videos and audio that actually contain fragments.
AUTOCOMPLETE
We improved the autocomplete functionality for better performance. It only triggers after 3 characters and uses a 200ms debounce, so no search fires while you're still typing quickly. This reduces server calls and makes input smoother.
SETTINGS & MANAGEMENT
Administrators of organisations with a Starter or Business subscription will now see extra licence information on the dashboard. We've added an overview of the subscription name, renewal date, and add-ons. The updated Used Storage Volume widget also gives more insight into the amount of data uploaded to your MediaHaven account.
AI SEARCH
When using AI search (semantic or similarity), the search results are always sorted on relevance. Other sorting options won’t be available as they have no impact on the AI search.
Technical features and improvements
Tenant migration
You can now move a record from one organisation to another, including both its metadata and its underlying files. The metadata moves instantly, so the record belongs to the target organisation right away, while the files follow in the background. This is especially useful when content needs to be handed over to another organisation without re-uploading it.
This feature is available as a separate module for customers with a multi-tenant setup. Contact our support team if you are interested.
Secure exports
Does your organisation require stricter export settings? If so, you can opt to switch to more secure exports. When you download an export, your user token is included so the API gateway can verify that only you are able to access it. This ensures your exported data stays protected and can’t be shared with other users. Please contact our team if you are interested in this feature.
API
In this release, we added some extra features to our API:
New endpoints to create and update relation types.
When an operation on an object creates a batch under the hood, the object returned by the API will contain a reference to that batch via the property
Context.Batch
You can find more information in the API documentation.
Full-text harvesting
We've improved the speed and reduced the resource consumption of full-text harvesting by extracting text directly from documents instead of running OCR on their raster content and/or images.
